Roll Separation Inspection

Challenge: Verify that paper rolls have the proper spacing prior to flipping them into position, to prevent operator injury and allow proper operation of the downstream equipment.

Solution: A camera is used to verify that there is a minimum of 2” between consecutive paper rolls. The camera is mounted directly above the paper track, and inspects based on input from the customer’s PLC or photo eye. The camera verifies the end of each roll, and checks that there is the proper gap between the rolls.

The station consists of a small panel to house the camera equipment including the break-out board, small power supply, and associated terminals etc. The station also includes a mounting bracket for the camera and associated camera programming. Dynamic Design Solutions provided:
